We are HUMAN. We all make mistakes. The road to success is not a straight, paved path. What do we do when we come to obstacles? What do we do if we keep slipping up? How do we deal when life gets in the way?…
Recently I received a client’s weekly check-in email, and found she was in complete distress. She has been working so hard to follow the plan to the T, doing everything perfectly. Then, LIFE HAPPENED. She slipped up. She ate off her macros and didn’t make it to the gym like her plan recommended.
So how do we deal when life happens? Let me tell you one thing–– we are HUMAN. We all have slip-ups. We all do things we regret. But the key is to not dwell on our slip ups and to keep moving FORWARD.
Dwelling on what has already passed isn’t going to benefit us at all. Instead, be happy that you allowed yourself to indulge a bit, let yourself ENJOY the fact that you had a little more than was planned. So what? You have to live life too and enjoy it! So don’t be so hard on yourself.
Leave what’s happened in the past BEHIND you, move forward with a positive mindset.
One time, I binge-ate and ENTIRE JAR of peanut butter. The whole thing–– from being freshly opened to licking it dry. You can imagine my guilt I felt lying in bed with a belly full of peanut butter.
But then I thought, “Hey, I literally just ate a whole jar of peanut butter! haha! It was SO GOOD”. And I turned my guilty conscience into an “Oh well, that just happened, and now I am going to laugh it off and think about how good it was”. I let it go. I woke up the next morning, killed my workout, stuck to my macros and didn’t feel guilty. I kept moving forward!
Be honest with yourself, but don’t take life too seriously. Laugh it off. Move forward, use the extra calories to make some crazy gains. Life goes on, there will be times you slip up again, and life will still go on!
It is OKAY to mess up sometimes. It is inevitable!
Having a mess up doesn’t make or break your future success; It is how you REACT to it that will determine your success.
